La Traviata, 2018, Martin C Herbst

One of the most iconic, romantic and tragic scores of all time, Verdi’s La Traviata contrasts spectacular party scenes with tender, intimate moments. It follows the love story between the courtesan Violetta and the romantic Alfredo Germont, which is played out against the hypocrisy of upper-class fashionable society.
In his debut production as ENO Artistic Director, Daniel Kramer directed this contemporary take on Verdi’s masterpiece, which was conducted by Leo McFall.
