Jenufa, 2016, Robert Wilson

Jenůfa is a gripping story of love, sacrifice and redemption that explores the stigma of pregnancy out of wedlock against the backdrop of a small, claustrophobic community. Directed by David Alden, this was the second revival of his acclaimed staging which was the winner of two Olivier Awards in 2006, including Best New Production. Alden updated the setting to an isolated 20th century industrial estate in the Eastern Bloc, giving the story a contemporary edge.
